A small air of Asia located at approximately 70 kilometers of Cayenne in direction of Régina, Cacao depends on the commune of Roura; it is bordered by the mountains and the forest, on a bank of the river of the County. The winding road crossing fields and mountains will offer you unique views, clear on the canopy. Cacao is the engine of the Guyanese agriculture, its inhabitants are the main producers of fruits and vegetables of the region. They are the first suppliers of the markets of our cities. After leaving Laos and Thailand decades ago, the Hmong arrived in Guyana in 1977 and built their village. Barely 500 when they arrived, today the village has more than 3000 inhabitants and continues to grow.
Very famous for its market, don't hesitate to come and taste a soup and egg rolls on Sunday noon, before going for a swim in Saubief, a small jump located at the exit of Cacao. If you are a fruit and vegetable lover, add a visit to the Cayenne market to your list of activities during your stay in French Guiana.
Don't leave without admiring the insects that surround you at the Planeur Bleu. Museum of entomology that will make you discover all the species hidden in the forest. Butterflies, mygales and scolopendres will have no more secret for you... There are many occasions to return: the Hmong New Year, the rambutan festival in the spring, or simply the desire to make an excursion on the river, come and discover this culture and these colors coming from far away.
