Partial Deductible Buyout: Cut Your Deductible in Half in French Guiana

Partial copayment coverage in French Guiana: Reduce your out-of-pocket costs

A fender-bender while parking in Cayenne, misjudging distances during a maneuver in Kourou… Even when driving carefully, the unexpected can happen. And when you rent a car, the question isn’t just whether the vehicle is covered, but also how much you might have to pay in the event of damage. At Europcar Guyane, collision coverage is already included in your rental. However, it does have a deductible that you may be responsible for. With the Partial Deductible Waiver option, you can reduce this deductible by half for covered collisions, subject to the terms of your contract. It’s a solution that helps you better manage your budget, whether you’re renting a car for a few days of vacation or a vehicle for business travel.

FAQs

The deductible is the portion of the cost of a claim that you pay yourself when the rented vehicle is damaged or stolen. The rental company covers the rest, within the limits of the contract. The higher the deductible, the greater your financial exposure; purchasing deductible coverage helps mitigate this risk.

Partial deductible waiver (PCDW) reduces the maximum amount you may be responsible for in the event of covered damage. Total deductible waiver (TCDW) reduces this deductible to €0 for damage covered by the option. Their availability and terms depend on the vehicle you choose and the rental agreement.

No, it's an optional feature, whereas third-party liability coverage is included in all contracts.

No. You are responsible for, among other things, damage to the upper and undercarriage parts of the vehicle, damage resulting from use off paved roads, certain types of water damage caused by negligence, broken glass and accessories, as well as flat tires and lost keys.

Several situations remain entirely your responsibility, regardless of the coverage you have purchased (Article 10 of the General Terms and Conditions). You should read these carefully before choosing a route:

  • The upper parts of the vehicle, in the event of a collision with a bridge, tunnel, archway, tree branch, or any overhanging object.

  • The vehicle body and components located beneath the vehicle: front suspension, oil pan, and underbody.

  • Damage resulting from use not intended by the manufacturer or off paved roads: in such cases, you are fully financially liable.

  • Water damage due to negligence: recklessly driving through floodwaters, leaving the vehicle unlocked, or parking in a flood-prone area.

  • Glass breakage and theft or damage to accessories. The WWI option covers only repairable impacts to glass and repairable flat tires; you are responsible for the cost of replacement.

  • Flat tires, tires, rims, fuel, and towing (Article 3), lost or damaged keys, and misfueling.

  • An accident caused by alcohol, drugs, failure to comply with traffic laws, or negligence: the rental company may claim the full cost of repairs and may terminate the contract.

  • Any departure from the rental territory, including to an outlying area: this voids the contractual insurance coverage.
