What are the opening hours of the Camp de la Transportation ?

The Camp de la Transportation offers guided tours that last about 1 hour and 15 minutes, providing insight into the site's fascinating history and the prisoners' living conditions. The tours are organized year-round with specific schedules:

  • July and August : Tours every day at 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 4:30 PM

  • From September to June :

    • Monday: 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM

    • Tuesday to Saturday: 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 4:30 PM

    • Sunday and public holidays: 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM

In addition to regular tours, the site also offers special night tours called “Camp la nuit tombe,” lasting 2 hours. These tours give you the chance to step into the shoes of the prisoners, immersing yourself in the nocturnal atmosphere of the camp. It’s a unique opportunity to feel the challenges and emotions the prisoners faced once night fell.

What are the admission fees ?

Here are the fees for visiting the Camp de la Transportation:

  • Regular Visits :

    • Adults : 6 €

    • Children under 12 : 2 €

    • Children aged 12 to 16 : 3 €

    • Group rate (for 8 or more people) : 4 € per person

  • Special Night Tour "Camp la nuit tombe" :

    • Adults : 15 €

    • Children under 12 : 7.50 €

These night tours, beginning from 7:00 PM, provide an immersive experience in the atmosphere of the camp after dark. The same prices apply for both adults and children. To check the dates of these events, especially around Halloween, it is recommended to inquire at the local tourism office.

How to get to the Camp de la Transportation ?

You can reach the camp by car from Cayenne (approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes) or from Kourou (approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes). Parking is available near the site or the Tourism Office.
