Every year, in French Guiana, the Tour de Guyana, a cycling event, takes place. This unmissable event invites runners to push their limits on a demanding course, far from marked circuits and crowds. While the Tour de Guyane took shape in the 1950s, it was during the 1978 edition that it became a stage race open to international competitors, showcasing the region. The Tour de Guyane caters to both amateur and professional cyclists seeking new challenges. They compete on roads that are often made of laterite, dusty, and winding. It generally unfolds in nine stages. The route connects the main cities of the department: Cayenne, Kourou, and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. The 33rd edition of the Tour de Guyane will take place from August 17 to 25, 2024.
