Topic 1 : The stages of returning a rental car

Be sure to return your rental vehicle to the location indicated on your rental contract on time to avoid additional charges. If you're running late, please call us as soon as possible on +594 594 35 18 27 (Matoury agency) or +594 594 35 62 69 (Airport agency)!

Keys are to be returned to the agency by our staff. If you are returning your car at the airport, a key box is available at the Europcar counter. You can leave your keys there at any time, even outside opening hours.

On return of the vehicle, we carry out several checks:

  • A vehicle condition check to ensure that no damage has been caused during your rental period. If any further damage is found, the vehicle will be appraised and you will be promptly informed of any repair costs. If you are responsible for these costs, they will be invoiced to you.

  • A check of the equipment provided (e.g. child seat)

  • Cleanliness of the vehicle

  • Fuel level

Upon return of your rental vehicle, additional charges may apply in the following cases:

  • Fuel : If the fuel level is lower than that noted on departure, a corresponding charge will be applied depending on the fuel option chosen at the time of rental.

  • Damage to the vehicle: Our agents will examine the vehicle to ensure that it is returned in the same condition as when it left. In the event of damage, a charge will be made in accordance with the terms of your insurance policy.

  • Additional equipment: If additional rented equipment is not returned, a fee may be charged.

  • Fines: In the event of a fine, you will automatically be charged a €30 administration fee. You will receive the fine at the address you gave us when you opened your contract.

Topic 2 : Other questions

In the event of late return of your rental car, or if you need to extend your contract, please contact us as soon as possible on +594 594 35 18 27. If the car is returned after the agreed time, an additional charge equivalent to one day's rental may be applied (invoiced in 24-hour increments).

If you return the vehicle early, no refund will be made for the unused period.

All drivers of the vehicle must be declared on the contract for insurance coverage purposes. This means that an undeclared third party cannot drive the vehicle, even to return it.

If you forget an item in a Europcar rental car, please contact us immediately on +594 594 35 18 27 so that we can help you find it. Please note, however, that we cannot be held responsible if the lost item is not recovered. We will do our utmost to assist you in this situation.

Our Europcar agency at Cayenne Felix Eboué Airport is open every day, including Sundays and public holidays. You can return your vehicle during our opening hours, available here. If you wish to return your vehicle outside our opening hours, we can provide you with a key drop box at our airport counter. Please note that if you return your vehicle to an agency other than the one specified in your contract, additional charges may apply. For Cayenne Félix Eboué airport, vehicles must be dropped off at parking lot P3. Charges may apply if the vehicle is left elsewhere. You remain responsible for the vehicle until it is returned.
